Therapeutic Techniques:
I use a blend of interventions to promote insight and alleviate emotional distress associated with a wide array of issues. My work is rooted in systems & attachment theory, and affective neuroscience research. Further, I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR.
Culturally Competent and Responsive:
Understanding and respecting inform how their presenting concerns are developed, maintained and can be solved for. Therefore, I work to understand clients’ social location and engage in culturally responsive practices. To do this, I challenge my own personal assumptions and critique one-dimensional characterizations of cultural experiences. Further, I am committed to not imposing the values of dominant cultures onto clients and defining what are often cultural differences as pathological or deviant.
