My Therapeutic Techniques:
I use a blend of interventions to promote insight and alleviate emotional distress associated with a wide array of issues. My work is rooted in systems & attachment theory, and affective neuroscience research. Further, I have advanced training in three evidence-based models of psychotherapy ( emotionally focused therapy, internal family systems, and EMDR) and brainspotting.
My Responsibility to Engage in Culturally Responsive Practices:
Our perspectives and daily responses are informed by the values, beliefs, and experiences that we’ve adopted throughout our lives. Some experiences have a profound and lasting impact on how we relate to the world and how we cope with stressors that range from minor to severe. Further, I believe that the intersection of people’s cultural identities inform how their presenting concerns are developed and maintained.
I work to understand clients’ social location and engage in culturally responsive practices. To do this, I challenge my own personal assumptions and critique one-dimensional characterizations of cultural experiences. Further, I am committed to not imposing the values of dominant cultures onto clients and defining what are often cultural differences as pathological or deviant.
My Rates?
My fee is $190 per 50-55 minute session and $250 per 1.5-hour session. I occasionally offer fees on a sliding scale. Please feel free to call to discuss fees and determine if you are eligible for a sliding scale rate for therapy services. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted. Payments will be collected before the start of each session. I provide counseling on a fee-for-service basis.
No shows and late cancel appointments are charged the full session fee.
I do not accept insurance at this time. My practice is what is referred to as “fee for service”..the client pays the therapist directly. Since I hold a Ph.D., my clients may petition their insurance for reimbursement, referred to as “out of network benefits”. Some insurance companies will reimburse their clients if they submit a receipt for services received. I'd be glad to provide such a receipt and help you with any additional paperwork in this situation.
